- Strengthening the heat and mass transfer process: In the process of evaporative cooling, heat transfer and mass transfer (water evaporation) occur simultaneously. The presence of the packing enhances the heat and mass transfer process between the gas and liquid. Due to the temperature difference and water vapor partial pressure difference between the water film on the surface of the packing and the air, heat is transferred from the hot water to the air, and at the same time, water evaporates from the surface of the water film and enters the air, achieving the dual effects of cooling and dehumidification. The high porosity and good air permeability of the packing provide a pathway for the diffusion of water vapor, accelerating the evaporation of water and thus improving the cooling efficiency.
- Reducing the air flow resistance: High-quality packing has a reasonable structure and shape. While ensuring sufficient gas-liquid contact, it can reduce the resistance of air flow. For example, some new types of PVC packing adopt a streamlined design, allowing the air to flow smoothly when passing through the packing layer, reducing energy loss and lowering the operating power of the fan, thereby achieving the goal of energy conservation.
